Clients receiving services from Mercy are among the working poor of our community. For individuals and families facing daily challenges, the holidays add an additional strain. Each year Mercy holds an annual Client Christmas Event. For the past 20+ years, Clients participated in a life skills class, selected, and wrapped a gift for each of their children, and gave the gift to their child/children Christmas morning. The goal of this event has been three-fold:
- Continue to build the parent child relationship.
- Provide life skills instruction that can be utilized beyond the walls of our center (giving them a hand up, not a hand-out).
- Be the hands of Christ extended – presenting the gospel in word and deed.
In previous years, clients were required to participate in a life skills class. However, due to the uncertainty of Covid-19, we have adjusted the Client Christmas Event for this year. Clients who have been actively involved in the parenting education program with Mercy will qualify to participate in this event. We trust that this will encourage clients to participate in the parenting education program offered by Mercy. With this in mind, we request you consider donating toys for children ages birth to and including 8 years of age. All contributions should be received by November 6 to sort and display the items accordingly. Unwrapped new toys should meet the following requirements and be age appropriate:
- No toy guns or knives
- No toys that promote violence
- No toys that require batteries
- No Stuffed Animals (Due to allergies)
Please call with any questions or schedule delivery 610.376.0828 and ask for Lissette. Donations received after November 6, will be given out the following year and are accepted throughout the year. The success of this event is dependent on contributions of faithful individuals, churches and businesses and impacts the lives of families beyond the Christmas season. Thank you!
